“Des Botanistes aux sommets” 19 Nov 2022 in Nice and 20 Nov in Bordighera

We were pleased to be invited to participate in the two conferences about the 19th/20th century botanists in the Maritime Alps of which Clarence Bicknell was one. Graham Avery‘s paper on Fritz Mader and Marcus Bicknell‘s on Clarence Bicknell were on the programme. Both events were well attended and well received. Graham, Vice Chairman of the Clarence Bicknell Association was unable to travel from Oxford because of illness, but Marcus delivered his presentation in French in NIce and Claudio Littardi of the Istituto Internazionale di Studi Liguri/Museo Bicknell delivered his paper in Italian in Bordighera. We thank the organisers for their efforts, especially Jean-Félix Gandioli of the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle de Nice and Dssa. Daniela Gandolfi of the Istituto Internazionale di Studi Liguri/Museo Bicknell.

Marcus took the opportunity to present the newly-released printed version of Clarence Bicknell’s Book of Guests in Esperanto (copies from www.clarencebicknell.com/shop and info@marcusbicknell.com)

We are pleased to be able to reproduce here the presentations for the record and for the interest of those who were unable to attend. Note that the presentation by each speaker was in essence the same in the two locations.
