Fund Raising

One of the objectives of the Clarence Bicknell Association when it was set up in 2012 was to celebrate Clarence Bicknell’s life and work on relevant occasions like the 2018 centenary of his death. We raised funds then for the Museo Bicknell in Bordighera; we supported the renovation of the entrance to the museum from the narrow street where the giant ficus tree had swallowed up the gate and the walkway; we raised funds for the refurbishment of the 1891 theatre screens by Giuseppe Piana. This was made possible by generous donations of $30,000 (€24,000 euros) between 2017 and 2020 from anonymous donors in the USA via the Clarence Bicknell Association, and by other modest donations.
We continue to raise funds for the Museo Bicknell. Donate now using the PayPal button below, or see the payment methods in our pdf download in English   e in Italiano.

One of the most enduring aspects of Clarence Bicknell’s legacy was his desire to share  the things he discovered with other researchers and writers. Instead of hoarding them for his own delectation, interpretation and publication (as was the norm until the mid 20th century), he made sure that his collections were accessible in new and existing institutions to anyone who would like to work on them. Data now show that Bicknell specimens, drawings and letters are in 45 collections (mostly public) and 8 in private locations in 9 countries including the USA.
New arrangements have been put into place to make donations easy from any country.  The international Clarence Bicknell Association receives donations by cheque, transfer or PayPal.Note that this page describes one-off donations; if you would like to subscribe regularly at a modest level please go to https://clarencebicknell.com/membership/
