We are pleased to publish here the new paper by Graham Avery on the celebrated botanist Reginald Farrer who crossed paths with Clarence Bicknell in the Italian Alps. Graham presented this paper to the European Botanical and Horticultural Libraries Group (EBHL) at the Plantentuin Meise, Belgium, on 20 October 2022 and is entitled ‘Reginald Farrer in the Alps, 1899-1917′.

This new paper includes references to Clarence Bicknell at pages 19-20-21, and although they repeat information and images that are already in Graham’s other documents on the www.clarencebicknell.com website, they do set them in the general context of Farrer’s life.
