A further 33 flowers have been uploaded to our new web-shop at www.clarencebicknell.com/shop, and are available for immediate shipment worldwide from the UK. This follows an uptake in sales of Clarence Bicknell alpine flower water-colours from the online shop.
This means that all 59 flowers of Clarence’s flowers in the Casa Fontanalba Visitor’s book are now available framed or un-framed. Many of the prints are available signed by one of the celebrities supporting the Woodland Trust www.woodlandtrust.org.uk to whom the net proceeds of your purchase are donated by the Bicknell Family Collection and the Clarence Bicknell Association. Those who have signed some prints are broadcaster Clive Anderson who is also President of the Woodland Trust, novelist Frederick Forsyth, singer-songwriter Chris de Burgh and playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn. See who signed which flowers below.
Each item is a high-quality art print approx. 12×16 inches (260x340mm) of the botanical watercolour by Clarence Bicknell (1842-1918). Each is one of the 59 images created by the botanist, archaeologist, artist, Esperantist and philanthropist in 1906 for his Casa Fontanalba Visitors’ Book (available for purchase on this web shop). This was his summer house high in the Alps on the border between France and Italy overlooking the Mediterranean. He spent winters in Bordighera nearby on the coast where he created the Bicknell Museum and other institution..

Which celebrity signed prints of which flower? You can see the list at https://clarencebicknell.com/wp-content/uploads/Watercolour-list.xlsx and check the “Celebrity signature” dropdown on each product page. You can purchase the print framed or unframed. Reproduction is by state-of-the-art digital offset lithographs on an eight-colour Komori Lithrone LS-829 with H-UV by The Indigo Press in Southampton. Each print is on 150gsm uncoated card and machine-sealed. The Alison Kingsgate frame has shatterproof styrene perspex making it especially suitable for offices and homes with children and the elderly. This perspex has the same clarity of glass, but more durable and safer than traditional glass, and can therefore be shipped to you at reasonable prices. Ten colours are available; you can see the choice at https://clarencebicknell.com/wp-content/uploads/frame_colours_2024c.jpg. The width of the frame moulding is 25mm and the depth 18mm (approximate). Card mounts of 1.4 mm thickness hold the print in place under the perspex.
